Insurrection is the very first collaboration by the creators of the Iron Velvet Studio : web experiences builders who wreck boundaries and build connections.

It's really dear to our hearts as it focuses on one of our core desires : craft powerful Web Experiences in a sustainable way. The studio opened 2 years after the release of Insurrection, as an outcome of the project.

Insurrection has multiple purposes. The first one is to try to make my trip to Iceland count as much as possible. Many things I’ve experienced or seen there changed my views of the world and myself, as a person. When I went there, I didn’t plan on working on such a project. This is the fruit of the afterthoughts of my trip, and a fortunate encounter that pretty much started our company.

The second purpose is to express a soft warning against climate change. Iceland is one of these countries which are more deeply impacted by this phenomenon and we truly hope that the pictures are an alright testimony to that.

We've researched NGOs for a while, and from what we could gather, Green Peace is the cleanest NGO for nature we can find. We're not partnered with them, and we are in no way getting compensation for this. We simply thought they deserved it more. France because Green Peace only accepts local donations.

First and foremost, the project has been up for about 2 years now. In that time frame, not a single sale was made (literally).

Second, society6 makes payment on a monthly basis. When we get payment, we will be posting a or several proof(s) of our donation on Insurrection's Facebook page, making all the transactions fully transparent. Also, our name is all over the place, if you think we are being dishonest, hit us up.

Please do! Insurrection offers the benefit of giving to an NGO while shopping for art. If you don’t enjoy art or if you don’t like the pictures, please, go ahead and give to an NGO. We recommend Green Peace (see point above), but here are other NGOs we think deserve your donation and are really making a difference:

Logistics has always been the biggest issue in this project. We've both sold and bought on Society6 and their service has been nothing but quality work. They also take care of everything for us, and for a very decent price (pretty much the same as printing, packing and shipping ourselves). They also offer sales (free shipping, -15-25%) on a very regular basis, making it easier for a bunch of people to get an item, from anywhere in the world.
